Mike Williams 18's
Mike Williams is the founder of Wild Blue Volleyball Club and is now in his second season as an Assistant Coach at Loyola University of Maryland. Williams served as head coach at The College of Notre Dame of Maryland from 2004-2006 after spending the two previous seasons as an assistant coach at the College. Under his tutelage, the Gators won two Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference (AWCC) titles and amassed a 59-49 record over three seasons. Notre Dame advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships in 2005, after winning the AWCC Tournament with the second seed, for the first time in school history. A season later, the Gators put together the best season in the history of the conference, winning all 12 games against AWCC foes and compiling a 28-12 record, the most wins for a Notre Dame team. At least two Notre Dame players earned All-AWCC First Team honors each season, while one of his players was a two-time conference player of the year. Prior to being the head coach at Notre Dame, Williams was assistant to Don Metil at Notre Dame. Mike is in his tenth season as a coach for Wild Blue.
Emmy Williams 18's
After concluding her career as a standout setter The College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Emmy has moved into the college coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Loyola University of Maryland. Now in her second season with the Greyhounds, Emmy has played and coached for Wild Blue. Williams was a three-year starter and letterwinner at Notre Dame where she helped the Gators win two Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference (AWCC) titles and advance to the first two NCAA Division III Championships in school history. She finished her tenure at Notre Dame with the school career and single-season records in set assists and led the AWCC in assists all three years of her career. Williams earned All-AWCC honors as a junior and was an honorable mention member of the team as a sophomore. In 2005, as a freshman, Williams helped the Gators win the AWCC Tournament as the No. 2 seed and advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time. The following season, she led Notre Dame to a school-record 28 victories and undefeated run through conference play. The Gators then earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Championships. Williams graduated in May with a degree in communications with an emphasis in advertising and public relations. Emmy is in her sixth year as a coach with Wild Blue. Emmy was also an NCAA setter at the College of Notre Dame. As a sophomore, Williams broke the all-time assist record at Notre Dame, surpassing the 2,400 mark. In 2006, Emmy was named to the AWCC all conference team. Prior to playing for the College of Notre Dame, Emmy played high school volleyball for Towson High and club volleyball for Wild Blue.
Alexa Carney 18's
Alexa will be in her second season as an Assistant Coach for Wild Blue. Lex, who was a standout player for Towson High and Wild Blue is now a sophmore in her second season as an outside hitter for Stevenson University.
Karlee Woodward 18's
Karlee comes to Wild Blue after completing her senior season as a Loyola Greyhound. In 2008 as a junior middle blocker Karlee led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in blocks per set, posting 134 total and an average of 1.09 per frame… Also put away 206 kills, an average of 1.67 per set. Karlee was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. As a high school player Karlee earned four letters in volleyball at Centennial High School in Scottsdale, Ariz…. Served as team captain as a senior… Named as team MVP during 2005 season… Led the Firebirds to back-to-back state titles as junior and senior… United Dairymen All-American as a senior… Named All-State First Team by the East Valley Tribune and The Arizona Republic… Member of the National Honor Society… Played club volleyball for Club Red and Coach Joe Hesse… Club team made four appearances at the National Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships.
Jim Jung 17's
Jim Jung has been named Technical Director for Wild Blue this year and will be over seeing all coaches, and monitoring all practices. Ensuring the club philosophy will be maintained at all age levels. Jim is in his first season as the head coach of the boy's varsity team at St. Paul's School. Last year Coach Jung headed the program at Carver High School and prior to that Jim enjoyed eight seasons as coach at Maryvale Preparatory School, his first four as the JV coach and the remainder as the head varsity coach. Last year, Jim was head coach of the Wild Blue 16's Smash. Jim has attended three Gold Medal Squared Coaches Clinics and been an instructor for High Peaks Camp. In addition to working for High Peaks, Jim also ran the Wild Blue junior clinic. This will be his seventh season with Wild Blue.
Marisa Joynt 17's
This season will be Marisa's second season as an assistant coach for Wild Blue. She played volleyball all four years of high school at Maryvale Preparatory School and Wild Blue for club. This season she was the assistant coach for the boy's junior varsity team at St. Paul's School. She has completed and is certified through the Impact Certification Clinic.
Rob Schuetz 17-2's
Rob was introduced to volleyball in the late 1970s by Coach Mike Williams. He started as a player in the recreation leagues of the late 1970s and progressed to USAV Men’s competition, playing first at the B level, then after two years moving up to Men’s AA at the Baltimore Volleyball Club. While at the University of Maryland he played AA/A level, then after graduation he re-joined Coach Mike, playing Men’s A for many more years under the Old Bay Volleyball Club. Rob also has many years’ experience coaching various kids’ sports teams from 15-16 boys’ metro baseball at Putty Hill, to Lutherville-Timonium travel and recreation league baseball to elementary school co-ed soccer at Immaculate Conception School, to girls’ club volleyball at Wild Blue. He has always focused on skill / technique development, team building, strength training, and learning how to win with the tools you have, always including his teams in discussions and team building sessions. Rob is in his third year as a head coach at Wild Blue, last year coaching the Wild Blue Crush 16-3, and the year before coaching the Wild Blue Thrashers 16-1.
Brent Whitehead 16's
Brent comes to Wild Blue bringing 15 years of playing experience from club (Yorktowne Jrs., York, Pa), high school (York Suburban High School, York, Pa), and collegiate (East Stroudsburg University, Poconos, Pa). After graduating college Brent moved to the Baltimore area to become a middle school Health and Physical Education Teacher for Baltimore County (Sudbrook Magnet Middle School). He coached his first season for Pikesville High School in Baltimore County. Brent was then hired to be the JV Head and Varsity Assistant at Saint Paul’s School for Girls under Kelli Wilkinson. Since that time Brent has helped lead the Gators to three A Conference Finals appearances including 1 Championship in 2007, two appearances in the finals of the Maryland vs DC Invitational including 1 Championship in 2007, and his first undefeated season and championship with his junior varsity team in 2009. Brent is both impact and gold medal squared certified. This is Brent’s second season with Wild Blue.
Erin Conway 15's
Erin comes to Wild Blue after moving to the Baltimore area. She is a native of the State of Ohio where she played High School volleyball (Hudson High School) and club volleyball (Quicksilver VBC, Akron Canton Elite VBC, and Cannon VBC). Erin attended and graduated from University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She played and helped coach the Saint Mary's College club volleyball team for three years, and as a senior Erin worked very closely with the Director of the Play Like a Champion Today program at Notre Dame. This is an innovative coach and parent education program that centers on the positive development of student athletes. Erin has also spent two years coaching 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for Saint Joe School in South Bend.
